Eco-Friendly Mixed Media Art by DOLAN GEIMAN

Dolan Geiman is a nationally recognized mixed media artist creating original paintings, collages, constructions, and limited-edition reproductions. Produced from salvaged wood, found objects, and other recycled materials, Geiman's eco-friendly artwork emerges from a folk art tradition infused with a contemporary, urban style. Originally from Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, Geiman currently lives and works in Chicago along with partner Allison Walsh. His artwork has broad appeal to collectors and decorators alike, successfully weaving together the rural with the urban and the vintage with the contemporary. Motifs such as rural America, woodland creatures "specifically birds," and country music are popular and reoccurring themes, creating an artwork that introduces a modern aesthetic while remaining true to its rustic roots. The process of transforming Geiman's art-making into a sustainable business practice began in 2004 when Geiman and Walsh took a break from Chicago and moved to a small crabbing community on the Chesapeake Bay. Three months of country living provided the time and perspective necessary to map out a vision for the future. In true creative fashion, their business plan was composed in a sketchbook filled with images, scribbles, and thought bubbles. Today, those journals and notebooks remain on an office bookshelf, never an arm's length away, and represent the building blocks of what is today the multifaceted art company, Dolan Geiman Inc. Always eager to explore new territory, the next chapter of Dolan Geiman Inc. will hold many exciting ventures. As Geiman and Walsh look to the future, their goal is to expand the notion of "fine art" into a multi-disciplinary design company, known for one-of-a kind original artwork, limited-edition eco-friendly box prints, and a diverse collection of home accessories.
