Playful and functional ceramic creations by ED AND KATE COLEMAN

Ed and Kate Coleman live and work in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Their 200 square foot studio is next to their home on “Big Flats” Mountain. At 2900 feet elevation, the Coleman's love the Blue Ridge Mountains and are continually inspired by them.

Ed and Kate each started working with clay at the age of fifteen, taking ceramic classes at the Indianapolis Art Center. They realized then that it was something they would always do. After receiving Fine Arts Degrees from Ball State University, they opened their first studio in Southwest Florida in 2000. In 2006, they moved to the mountains of North Carolina, near Asheville.

“We like working within the parameters of a series, keeping each piece unique and one-of-a-kind. This process allows our art to continuously grow and move in dynamic ways. We hope that the excitement we feel when making a piece is evident and transferred to the owners of our work.”
