Terrocota Clay Decorations by ART DEPARTMENT
| Art Department was founded in New York City almost a decade ago by artists and book designers Felix Kniazev and Olga Julinska. From the start our work has been whimsical, yet distinguished by a precise, graphic quality and high contrast vivid colors. Our mission has been to make positive connections through our artwork: to delight our viewers, to make them stop and wonder. Our diverse background is central to our approach. We came into ceramics with a rich experience in all areas of visual art including painting, sculpture, graphic design, printmaking, photography, theatre design and jewelry making. We also traveled the world for several years and have learned from visual cultures of all the countries that we visited. When time came to expand, the company moved into its current studio space in the Walter Baker Chocolate Factory in Boston, MA. Another round of expansion has just been started with the second studio opening in the Green Mountains in Vermont. Looking to the future, we are working to convert out Vermont studio solely to wind power and are currently developing a line of furniture using native Vermont hardwood, marble and slate. |
