Can you have a cat flap in glass?
- Marta Griffin | April 23, 2018
If you have a feline and are wondering whether it is possible to have a cat flap fitted into your garden doors or windows here is all you need to know.
Firstly, it is best to buy a new glass fitting for your cat flap
It is not recommended to get a cat flap fitted into a current window or door as the glazing can be damaged and the glass wont be able to act as it should.
There are many companies that have speciality pet doors/ glass fittings.
Whilst a lot of companies require you to buy your preferred cat flap and then bring it into store, many have a selection of their own you can choose from and they can then cut and build the door to house the feline door.
It is more expensive
Do remember that however you do it can be costly, as the door has to be specially cut.
The cutting of the fitting needs to be accurate and takes much precision to be done.
Get it done by window or glass specialist.
There are a lot of people out there who will say they can take your cat flap and fit it into your current door or window.
Most doors will not withstand the pressure of adding the cat flap and therefore a new piece of glass needs to be specifically manufactured.
